Local historians date the original section of the house back to 1820, as Buffalo business leaders fled Buffalo during the war of 1812 and escaped into this section of Western, New York. We are a local historical landmark due to the unique architecture and patronage.

We saw it as a good omen to purchase this old house because there were three honeybee hives in the walls, ceilings, and barn. As former beekeepers, we weren't afraid; we saw it as a sign that WE could take on this project. The "Honeyhouse" was born as Jack was scraping massive amounts of honey and wax from the wall with a machete, fighting off honeybees that didn't like what he was doing.

When Sue and Jack purchased the historic home, it needed major restoration. 14" solid stone walls and plank construction made accessing electricity and plumbing very challenging. Sue and Jack did 99% of the work themselves, and excelled at repairing wooden windows, plaster, ceilings, painting, refinishing floors, and revamping the bathrooms.

The house is a short-term rental that sleeps 8 in 3 lovely bedrooms with 2.5 baths. We have a historical theme, and are available for booking the entire house. We advertise on AirBnB on Vrbo, however you can also book directly through us. Send us a message!
